Pheffer File 2-22-13
Proving Ground Pro Wrestling is set to return to Bogart's in Jacksonville on Saturday, March 9th for AFTERMATH. And rest assured, P.G.P. has an absolutely stacked card YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS!!!!!!! Only $10 gets you in, and here's what you'll see:
PGP Franchise Champion TaDarius Thomas vs. Tyson Dux ( Managed by Rinaldo Piven): TaDarius has had the midas touch, capturing the PGP championship at the same time he is making his way to the finals of the Top Prospects Tournament on ROH television. This truly is a breakout year for TD, putting himself on the wrestling map in a big way. TaDarius is poised for a huge year in the business, and luckily for PGP fans, we all get to WATCH IT LIVE as it happens. Dedication and pursuit of a goal are the calling cards of TD's career. Championships are the fruits of that labor. See him DEFEND that championship LIVE at AFTERMATH!!!...and trust me on this, it won't be an easy task to keep the gold, things are never that easy in the Proving Ground. Rinaldo Piven is livid to say the least. After the turn of events at Project 1, Rinaldo feels like The Piven Family was robbed. Not only has he lodged a barrage of complaints on behalf of Arik Cannon, Piven has also procured the contract of Tyson Dux from JP Investments and will be representing him at AFTERMATH. This is a key move for The Piven Family, and with a win here Rinaldo Piven will gain a measure of revenge and a whole lot of leverage in PGP. I don't know what kind of bargain was struck to get this done, but whatever it was, Rinaldo Piven made a big league move here. Tyson Dux isn't “just another guy”....this is a man with 5 star talent and an international resume. Trained to be a champion, this Canadian superstar was groomed by the likes of Scott D'Amore, Joe E, Legend and Terry Taylor. Tyson took that training and excelled with it, showing a single minded focus to be the best. That foundation has served Dux well as he has found his way to promotions like Zero1, ROH and TNA. Tyson Dux is focused on making himself a household name and main event player in 2013. PGP is the next step in Tyson Dux's quest to make that happen. Thomas versus Dux for the PGP Franchise title should be UNBELIEVABLE...seriously folks, this is why YOU GO SEE WRESTLING LIVE...this is truly two on the rise superstars in the prime of their careers pulling out every stop and exhausting every effort to win right before your eyes. Opportunities like this don't come around every day, and with Rinaldo Piven at ringside also, this is a chance at an all time classic that's NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!!!Saturday,March 9th!!! AFTERMATH!!!!
PGP Cutting Edge Champion Blake Steel vs. Ruff Crossing : Let veteran scribe Jack Pheffer take you for a stroll down old school wrestling memory lane...If we were all chillin' in 1980 ( more or less) and watching wrestling on your recently installed cable TV you'd be seeing all kinds of young future stars of wrestling. ..among them you would have seen a young Randy Savage and Barry Windham...Yea, I went there...I said it Steel vs. Crossing 2013 = Savage vs Windham 1980.....But Jack, are you sure??? But Jack, Savage and Windham never actually feuded!?!? But Jack, you can't be serious...Jack, what the hell are you thinking???...I said it and I'm sticking to it...this is old school cool with all the flash and dash you need in 2013. That perfect blend of two blue chippers meeting with a title on the line. Both these guys are serious players in PGP, and looking to be serious players from coast to coast. Something like the Cutting Edge title can legitimize either mans march towards the big time. This match will have all those physical in ring characteristics that propelled men like Savage and Windham to legendary status, pure kick ass old school wrestling at it's finest. With Blake Steel hitting a high water mark in his career and Ruff Crossing fresh off a great match against Arik Cannon at Project 1, Proving Ground fans find themselves in the perfect position to see a fantastic match up. Will Ruff ride off into the sunset with the Cutting Edge title or will Blake successfully defend and continue his rise to the top? This is going to be EPIC!!! Don't miss this and end up kicking yourself. For real, your buddies are going to be talking this one up for the next two weeks, so don't get left out of that conversation!!! SEE IT FOR YOURSELF!!! ONLY IN THE PROVING GROUND!!! ONLY $10!!! BE THERE!!!
Marion Fontaine vs. Derek St. Holmes Esq. : Polarity is an apt word to describe Fontaine versus St. Holmes. The workings of magnetism parallel the relationship between Fontaine, St. Holmes and Proving Ground fans. The ability to attract fans with an offbeat out of time style and arsenal of great moves is Marion Fontaine's bread and butter. The mustachioed mat star has attracted quite a following with his skill, charisma and ability to compete with anyone. A guy poised for the label “breakout” star, Fontaine is taking his game to the next level in the Proving Ground. St. Holmes on the other hand, tends to repel a lot of fans. Derek has a big (and perhaps well founded) ego, which can rub some folks the wrong way. The erudite aristocrat has a skill set every bit as well polished as his sterling silver tea service. If you happen to think of some of the European legends like Steven Regal, Dave Taylor or Doug Williams while watching St. Holmes, you're right on the mark. St. Holmes has trained under and modeled himself after these “blue bloods” of professional wrestling, and had great success in doing so. Fontaine and St. Holmes took a natural dislike to each other from Jump Street. They just don't get along at all. As a wrestling fan you need to use this to your advantage, this is a chance to see bad blood played out in the ring. I have this match marked as “one to watch”, I'm expecting big things from this pairing. Once again Proving Ground delivers like no other promotion. Don't miss this one!!!! Pay for your friends ticket and they'll thank you all year!!!!
P.G.P. Tag Team Champions Zero Gravity vs. The Hooligans : Zero Gravity made the most of Project 1, capturing the Proving Ground tag team Titles. Brett Gakiya and CJ Esparza showed why they're called Zero Gravity, with a lightning quick high flying assault which upended both Team Overkill(Christian Rose & Matt Cage) and the duo of Bobby Houston and Dan Lawrence. Zero G has set the bar high in the PGP tag ranks, and they plan to rise above that setting in the coming months. No doubt they're capable of flying to those stratospheric heights, so strap in, grab the oxygen masks and take a ride with Zero Gravity. Proving Ground Pro is proud to announce the debut of THE HOOLIGANS. The Hooligans are also Midwest tag team specialists, earning a reputation for being meaner than rattlesnakes and tougher than shoe leather, Devin and Mason Cutter have firmly established themselves as a formidable tandem. Training under the legendary Mr. Hughes( aka Curtis “Big Cat” Hughes)...The Hooligans learned to amplify a natural mean streak, and seriously hurt people in the squared circle. These surprisingly agile brawlers will give Zero Gravity everything they're looking for, and perhaps more. The Hooligans could very well be PGP tag champs when the dust settles on 3/9 at AFTERMATH. I'm not sure Tag Team match ups get any better than this, high flyer's versus nasty brawlers is a perfect prescription for action. This is bound to be AWESOME!!!! don't you dare miss this action!!! This 1 match alone is worth more than the cost of your ticket!!! Proving Ground Pro is your BEST ENTERTAINMENT VALUE!!!!! Only $10 is so cheap you might want to tip the ticket taker!!!
The Family(managed by Rinaldo Piven) vs. The New Millennia : The Family(Mario Crivello and Bobby Valentino) versus The New Millennia(Brandon Espinosa and Ace Hawkins) is a Project 1 rematch of sorts. All four of these men faced off as part of a 6 man tag team match. Both The Family and The New Millennia are tag duo's at their core, and each team feels like they still have something to prove. With tag teams from across the country pounding on the Proving Ground's door, a win here will be huge in the PGP tag ranks and set either New Millennia or The Family on a path towards a shot at the PGP Tag title. This is primed to be a fantastic match and a possible “dark horse” as match of the night. Every participant is extremely capable, and with the wild card of Rinaldo Piven at ringside expect to be entertained. This is just one more example of how seriously PGP takes tag team wrestling. From day one in PGP, ownership felt like the tag division should be a cornerstone of the PGP product and has striven to deliver that. Don't miss this one!!!! Anything can happen!!! Better than found money!!!!BE THERE!!
“Fabulous” Jason V vs. " The Famous"Justin Reno : This is an interesting match. The flamboyant Jason V returns to the Proving Ground, this time in singles action. As part of Cookies and Cream, Jason V had a great showing at Project 1 but the team fell short. Still stinging from that loss, Jason V truly does have something to prove on his return to PGP. In it's quest to bring you the best new talent in pro wrestling PGP is proud to announce the debut of Justin Reno. Justin is fairly new to pro wrestling, but has quickly put himself on the fast track to success. A brash and bold performer, Reno craves the spotlight, and has the skill and style to capture it. A well rounded mat game has propelled Justin to both championships and matches against wrestling legends like The Honky Tonk Man. The fans are going to be the real winners here, because the talent at PGP continues to grow, and the addition of “The Famous” Justin Reno is testament to that fact. This is going to be a great match to watch, Famous vs. Fabulous should deliver fun and action from the opening intro. Both men want a win in this most important match up, so expect an off the charts level of effort and excitement in this one. You'll only find this in the Proving Ground!!!! See this great first time matchup live!!!!
Dan Lawrence vs. Jimmy Karryt : Both Dan Lawrence and Jimmy Karryt return to the Proving Ground having fallen short of their goals at Project 1. Dan ( and partner Bobby Houston) advanced to the finals of the tag team tournament, but were defeated by Zero Gravity in a fantastic battle for the titles. Lawrence has an impressive career as a singles competitor also, having held the main title for several promotions across the Midwest during his career. He's looking to set himself apart as a player in the PGP singles ranks ,so be assured Dan Lawrence wants this win and plans to get it. Jimmy Karryt showed skills, but didn't have the luck to prevail in the 6 man Cutting Edge elimination match. Expect Karryt to excel in the more traditional confines of a singles match. Showing a great combination of speed and agility to go along with a slick skill set and ability to take some punishment and keep on going. Karryt wants big things and plans to make them happen in the Proving Ground. See it for yourself at AFTERMATH!!!! 3/9!!!! BOGART"S!!!
There you have it, the complete rundown of AFTERMATH!!!! Don't miss this show!!! PGP has knocked it out of the park with this card!!!! LIMITED SEATING!!! Tickets only $10!!! This is an unreal card from top to bottom,...an absolute MUST SEE!!!! YOUR BEST ENTERTAINMENT VALUE!!!!! Proving Ground Pro!!!!!!!!
Thanks for supporting independent professional wrestling, I look forward to seeing you at the matches......in the Proving Ground. Jack Pheffer
