When I first started focusing the Nose Bleeds on the independent wrestling scene I really struggled with whether anybody would take my opinions and views seriously. I consider most of the wrestlers and promotions friends of mine. That itself I find hard to deal with. Why? Because I try to be as honest and as straight forward as possible. Sometimes, or I guess most of the time, people don’t like to be told “This person over there is really good”or”I’d like to write or talk about you but I feel you have a lot of elements you really need to improve on.” At that point they’ve already convinced themselfs if I don’t enjoy watching them wrestle I most not know anything.
The first few things I did where out of my comfort zone. Friend wise. The truth is I haven’t even began to cover the people I truly do consider friends. I was trying to decide what my next move was going to be when I received a message from the promoter of All American Pro Wrestling, www.myspace.com/allamericanprowrestling . He told me he enjoyed some of my writings and would like for me to come down and watch a show. He then told me that he wanted me to write something about the show. I didn’t know who this guy was and at this point had never even heard of AAPW. He told me this, “I want you to come down and watch the show. Then give me your complete honest opinion and then put it out there for everybody to see. I don’t want any bull either I want the truth.”
My first thought, tell him I’m not doing the Nose Bleeds anymore I’ve decided it isn’t worth it. I thought that would have been easier then to have to travel 2 hours to a sucky show and then get beat up by some guy after wards. So I decide to test myself.
I can honestly say I highly recommend All American Pro Wrestling to any one who hasn’t heard of them or if you just haven’t had the chance to check them out yet. They put together a very solid card that consisted of: action, comedy, drama, a legend, charity and championship matches. All important elements to me in a wrestling show. AAPW does bring in big names and I was lucky enough to be in attendance when Jake “the Snake” Roberts was there on August 25th. Jake was a child hood hero of mine and still has every bit of that ring psychology that so many young wrestlers over look when developing there craft.
From this point on the Nose Bleeds isn’t going to consist of me talking about the shows as much. What I hope to bring you is a few of the actually matches from these shows. The folks at AAPW where nice enough to allow me to use this show as the spring board for this new project. So I can’t bring you all of the matches but I picked three matches before the show started that I really was looking forward to. First up we got Edmund “Livewire” McGuire in one on one action with “Thunderbolt” Brandon Walker with Brooklyn Bobby. This match was set up the week before this event when Walker costs McGuire the AAPW Heavyweight Title.

Next up we have one of the wrestlers that made my must watch edition just a couple weeks ago Issan Hadeev with The Insurgent trying to show “The All American” J. T. Calhoun that the middle east is superior.

Finally we have The Phoenix Twins attempting to become the first ever AAPW Tag Team Champions against “The Headliners” Chris Michaels and Shawn Shultz in the finals of the tournament.

Like I said I can’t bring you all the matches. But I don’t feel I could finish this up with out mentioning the AAPW Heavyweight Champion “The Homicidal” Steven Davis defending his title against “The Serial Thriller” Shane Rich. This match was just plan awesome. I’m kicking myself for not being able to bring this match to you. If you get a chance to see either of these wrestlers please make sure you do.
The next event for AAPW is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th at 7pm at the Aquatics and Activities Center in West Frankfort, IL. More information and advanced tickets will be available soon. If your in the area please check them out. They pride themselves on there family atmosphere so its fun for the whole family.
That’s it for me. I hope you enjoyed. Please make sure you brush your teeth.
